Faith must tram…

Faith must trample under foot all reason, sense, and understanding.
Martin Luther

That is pretty much the best recipe for disaster I can think of. He’s speaking, of course, about faith in the Christian god, but I would extend this to faith in any ideology; Stalin killed millions through starvation because of his faith in ideology: “our system can make 3x more grain per acre than the competing economic system, so we can sell most of it to foreign countries!”

One response to “Faith must tram…”

  1. Tech Savvy says :

It never seems to amaze that science is ignored so those in political power can exercise their opinions without opposition — the implications of which are that millions die.

It is even more amazing that so many people have faith in the politician who lies and makes outrageous claims, but in this case, it may be more hope than actual faith.

Faith is still the evidence of things not seen — unfortunately, people want to believe in things not only not seen (like Quarks, for example) without any evidence whatsoever. That sort of faith is foolishness and is not evidence of anything real. Some people are waiting for the fourth time for Jesus’ non return, this time on May 19th. I have absolute faith that Christ is not returning that day.

My faith is based on the evidence of the things not seen — that is, three times before people believed Jesus would return on specific dates and it did not happen — we didn’t see it. Not only did we not see it, we did not see it three times: Thus faith is evidence of things not seen. This is my 3x.

You don’t have to be a prophet to know when someone isn’t a prophet.

Again, just 18 days from now, skeptics will win again — having “the right of it” as they say….
